Snowy Proposal - Central Park - New York

Mathew & Maggie’s lovely proposal the day after the first storm in New York City. Central Park was snow filled and very very icy.

The couple was together for 5 years and Traveled down from Boston by train to enjoy the weekend in the city. Matthew planned this since May and knew instantly that he wanted to do it at the Lake Viewing area near 72nd street facing the Iconic Eldorado building.

Carolina & Enrique Civil Ceremony @ New York Sports Club & Central Park || New York Elopement Photographer

I have been getting a lot of slack about my lack of posting blogs or social media content. Actually at the time of this blog I have not posted in 9 moths. I promise that will change!

I had the privilege of photographing Carolina & Enrique engagement photos few months back and they were so pleased they asked me to photograph the civil union they had planned in New York where they now live. They are originally from Venezuela and will be having a large wedding back in Caracas next year, but had family and some of their closest friends. They were a very reserved group of people but when the music came on it was a different story!! Towards golden hour we went into Central Park for some wedding photos.

Teen Drama Lab || New York Performance Photographer

I was asked to photograph the end of season performance of the Teen Drama Lab.

Teen Drama Lab is a acting class for young performers provided by FolksbieneRU, which is part of The National Yiddish Theater. Its a wonderful 3 month class where kids learn stage acting and at the end of the season get to put on a full performance for friends and family.

I was shooting the full practice run right before the main performance. I prefer shooting the practice run as the house is clear of people and makes moving around easier without disturbing the show.

I wound up converting a lot of the images to black and white. I usually only do this if there is distracting bright color taking away from the emotion of the subject. But this theater actually had beautiful soft ambient light that was quite flattering. But there is just something so classically emotional about looking at a performance photo in B&W it just adds a new element of emotion.

The class and performance was held at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, at 344 Amsterdam Avenue. The Jewish Community center has a lot of great programs for children.
